DANIELA ANDRADE - CREATIVE DIRECTION (2024) CREATIVE DIRECTOR

BRIEF/APPROACH
Daniela and Jeff from Crooked Lid Records approached me to lead the creative direction for 2024. These projects marked the reintroduction of Daniela Andrade after a short hiatus during the pandemic. The tone of the art direction was poetic, fleeting, intimate and conversational.

Together we released 2 singles, merchandise, and shot new press photos.

BIKING

Biking is about being deeply in love with someone. It’s the feeling of biking somewhere and having their presence fill your mind. It’s a song about not being able to get them out of your head. As the scenery passes by you who are you thinking of? The aim of this artwork was to capture that sense of fleeting. While having a richness in colour that’s saturated with the thought of them.

GOODLUCK PAPER STARS

We brought this idea of stars and letters into a tangible experience for her listeners. And created an opportunity for Daniela to connect with her listeners. By throwing stars like t-shirts into the crowd of her shows with hand written notes.

  • 50 strips of marbled vellum finish paper
  • Words by Daniela Andrade
  • Instructions on package

“I heard somewhere that it’s easier to think of who to call when you’re in a low spot, harder to think of who to call when you have good news. The people that we imagine ourselves really celebrating something meaningful with can dwindle down to a selected few, or maybe just one.”
— Daniela Andrade
Good News direction is centered around the memory of Daniela folding paper stars and leaving messages for her best friend Vivi. For Daniela’s fans we get to see Vivi all grown up with her friends in this warm moment.

As a way to reintroduce Daniela again we have an intimate conversation in the fields of her hometown in Edmonton. About growing up and how their past has shaped who they’ve become today.
